Period Two Timeline
Important Civilizations of the Period
The top three most important civilization in this period (according to my personal belief) are as follows:
- Han Dynasty - Arguably the most important dynasty in Chinese history, the Han Dynasty played a huge role during the second period of history. Considered as one of the biggest competitors of their Roman counterpart (in terms of power), the Han Dynasty is often considered as the best 4 consecutive centuries of Chinese history, to the extent of being occasionally named as the “Golden Age” of Chinese history. They were advanced in the subjects of philosophy, arts, and literature. They were also responsible for the monopolization of silk.
- Byzantine Empire - The Byzantine empire was born as their Western counterparts fell; the Eastern people of the Roman Empire would not fall until much later. Led by the Roman Emperor Constantine, the Byzantine empire continued to blossom in terms of its innovations and philosophy. This state was often considered the most powerful of its time.
- Teotihuacan - While the Old World was doing quite well and blossoming through their interconnectedness, the civilizations on the opposite side of the world was doing quite well too. Based on its Mayan predecessors, the Teotihuacan civilization flourished under the leadership of the Aztecs - in fact, it was said to be the most revered and advanced city in the New World. Its art, philosophy, architecture, and religion would eventually influence all other civilizations to come in the New World.
