Period Three Timeline
Important Civilizations of the Period
The top three most important civilization in this period (according to my personal belief) are as follows:
- Mongolian Empire - As expected, the Mongolian Empire was one of the most influential in the entire history of the world. They were the earliest successful group of people able to unite the (almost) entirety of Asia. Under the rule of Genghis Khan, they were able to traverse the surface of the Old World and unite the people in a way unique to the time - while they did hold respect for different cultures and religions, they did demand a certain level of respect to Mongols. Although they did rack up a large death toll, they did ultimately increase trade and benevolence across their lands.
- Ottoman Empire - While the Mongols were one example of a nomadic tribe coming into power, another example can be derived from the Turkish people. They came into the Islamic region and efficiently took control of the land and people. They then were able to spread Islam and create (arguably) the most powerful Islamic state in history. The peak of their empire can be seen when they overthrew Constantinople and changed it into Istanbul.
- Ming Dynasty - The Ming dynasty is not very commonly seen as a very important civilization in history. However, I would consider it as such simply because it was the bridge between the Mongolian Dynasty (Yuan) and the last Chinese dynasty (Qing). It was, essentially, a shift back into the usual Confucian ideals of China. During this dynasty, China was able to perfect their civil service exam along with many parts of their political system.
